About Brace Mountain

Altitude: 2,300' MSL / 1,600’ AGL

P3/H3 (P2/H2 Observed)

Wind direction: WNW-WSW (250-290° ideal, 230-310° possible)

Wind strength: 8-10mph ideal; 0-15mph possible

Glide ratio to LZ: 3.6

Launch faces valley below. Spacious, open with good height over the LZ. Smooth and kind to beginners in the morning and afternoons. Great XC potential for more advanced pilots.

There are two options for access: a thirty minute drive around the back of the mountain, then a thirty-five minute trail hike through the woods, or a 60-90 minute mountain goat hike up the face.

A State Park permit governs this launch site and Pilots must sign in at the Mt Brace Outdoor Club LZ before going to launch. Park Ranger must also be notified before the first flight of the day. Find the site guide here.

Anyone new to Brace should consult the P2/H2/Guest Flying section for additional briefing on necessary skills and important environmental factors.
